Art Community, Social Movements: A series of conversations: Shervin Taheri
26 April 2023
Shervin Taheri can be considered as a critic and researcher with a sharp critical view of visual art. He has a questioning approach towards the activists of the visual field and specifically the gallery owners and the cycle of the art economy. Considering that the art market is separate from the art field, Taheri sees the recent crisis as a good opportunity for galleries to rethink. He believes that the galleries in this situation can follow a process that is more suitable for the promotion of art and artists. Taheri still complains about the lack of a sufficient platform to express opposing and protesting views and considers this situation as a sign of the lack of transparency and the unhealthy atmosphere of the art economy. In this conversation, Shervin Taheri talks about establishing justice between the artist and the mechanism of the art market.
