Amir Masoud Akhavan Jam's sculptures remind the old bond between industry and art. He is a craftsman who later became interested in sculpture and stepped into the field of art.
He spent his secondary education at the boarding school Landshulheim Steinmühle in Marburg, Germany. In 2018, he went to the United States to continue his studies and received a bachelor's degree in biology from George Washington University in Washington, DC. He returned to Germany again and studied in the field of executive MBA and obtained his master's degree from the University of Applied Sciences.
After returning to Iran, he worked in the production and industry sector, and between 1976 and 1990, he was in charge of managing the design department of a household appliance factory. This work period coincided with his interest in sculpture, and he began making bronze volumes and displayed the result of this work in a solo exhibition titled "Arise" at Etemad Gallery in 2013. In 2013, his second solo exhibition was held in Tehran's Shirin Gallery with the title "Path of Life." The first international appearance of his works took place in Dubai Opera Gallery in 2014. In the same year, his works were also presented in another group exhibition titled "Revealing the Great Middle East" in the London branch of the Opera Gallery. In 2020, Khak Gallery participated in two art fairs, "Contemporary Istanbul" and "Intersect Art and Design," Kennesaw. Today, Akhvan Jam has exhibited his works in different galleries as a group and individual.
The artisanal spirit of Akavanjam is evident in the selection of items and the manner in finishing his sculptures. Works that sometimes move towards pure embodiment and sometimes towards pure abstraction. In his figurative works, he creates ideal bodies, like the statues of Greek mythology, but the angelic wings push towards abstract forms, or by removing parts of the body, he damages its ideal wholeness, and it is through this that Despite the archaic tone, his works are contemporary and modern. In his abstract sculptures, Akahvanjam also uses transitory figurative references (whether references to human or animal organs) and creates poetic volumes that are based on playing with its internal and external positive and negative spaces. His use of shiny and polished metals such as bronze gives a decorative quality to his volumes, resulting in characteristics that are part of the popularity of his works in the art market.
The first appearance of Akhavan Jam in auctions dates back to December 2016 at the Tehran auction house. Until 2021, his works have appeared 5 times in domestic and foreign auctions with 100% sale in international auctions.
