Anahita Razmi was born in 1981 in Hamburg, Germany. She completed her preliminary education in Studies of Media Arts, at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar (2001-2006), and Media Arts and Fine Art, at Pratt Institute, New York (2005-2006). After these courses, Razmi continued her studies at the Master's level in Fine Arts, at Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Stuttgart and graduated in 2009.
Razmi has participated in more than 80 individual and group exhibitions and has won numerous awards and grants during her career. The first appearance of the artist in biennials dates back to 2011 and since then her works have been shown in important events such as Venice (2013) and Canakkale, Turkey (2019). The works of the artist have also been shown in important art fairs such as Artsy, Frieze, Art Dubai and Nada Miami.
Anahita Razmi is a visual artist who works with installation, moving image, photography and performance. The artist often uses his German-Iranian background as a reference point and focus on shifts between an 'East' and a 'West' to investigate the contextual, geographical and ideological changes. Razmi's approach is transcultural and she is interested in contemporary art, its history and references.
