Arghavan Khosravi (b. 1984, Shahrekord, Iran) is an Iranian-born painter. She received a BFA in Graphic Design from Islamic Azad University, Tehran, in 2006, followed by an MFA in Illustration from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Tehran in 2009. She later completed a post-baccalaureate program in Visual Arts at the Brandeis University Studio Art Program. In 2018, she relocated to the United States to pursue graduate studies in Painting at the Rhode Island School of Design.
Khosravi presented her first solo project in 2015 at Atbin Gallery, Tehran, followed by a second in 2016 at Homa Art Gallery, also in Tehran. Her early professional practice was shaped through participation in group presentations at institutions such as the Saba Cultural and Artistic Institute and other art venues across Iran. Her work has since been shown internationally, including in the United States, Belgium, China, Italy, and Switzerland, in a range of solo, group, and museum contexts.
Khosravi’s practice engages the visual language of Persian miniature painting in dialogue with surrealism, contemporary political discourse, and autobiographical narrative. Her paintings are characterized by dense layering and, at times, incorporate relief-like elements that extend into three-dimensional space. Recurring concerns in her work include exile and displacement, memory, gender, and the tension between freedom and constraint.
