Gholamhossein Amirkhani, Iranian calligrapher, was born in 1939 in Taleghan. After completing his primary education, he continued his studies at boarding school and in the meantime, he worked in the Bazaar for some time. It was from this period that he turned to learning calligraphy and after some time he excelled in this field.
Amirkhani entered the field of calligraphy professionally since 1959; Under the supervision of Seyyed Hossein Mirkhani, he became seriously interested in calligraphy, and after that he was employed as a calligrapher by the Department of Fine Arts in 1961. Mir Emad Al Hosni, Mirza Kalhor, Emad El Ketab, Ali Akbar Kaveh and several others were also his influences.
Gholamhossein Amirkhani received the first class badge of culture and art in 2008. He has also been the director of Iran Calligraphers Association and director of Arasbaran Cultural Center.
