Hassan Rouholamin, a painter and illustrator, was born in Tehran. Rouholamin is known for his realistic paintings of religious events. He became interested in painting during his childhood through his brother and started his art studies at Tehran Fine Arts Academy. Later, he went to Shahed Art University and continued his studies in painting. His undergraduate thesis was on Ashura, and later, he repeated this religious theme in his works and made famous Islamic-Shia events the subject of his works. In 2006, he won the second Youth Art visual arts festival award. Two years later, he won the Damoonfer Award, and in the same year, he added the first prize in the illustration field of the Youth Art visual arts festival award to his portfolio. Rouholamin's first solo exhibition was held in 2017 with the title "Al Haq Ma'a Ali" at Niavaran Cultural Center. His works have been exhibited in Germany and Iraq.
The artist began his work with illustrations and maintained the same tendency towards narrative images in his independent paintings. He illustrated books about Mirza Koochak Khan and the Goharshad Mosque incident and had experiences in the field of comic strips, among which we can mention collections about Mojtaba Navvab Safavi, Ahmad Motevaselian and Mohsen Hojai. He is also active in poster design. In most of these propaganda posters, he mixes current political events with religious themes and references to the characters and events of Islamic history.
Rouholamin has a post-Renaissance approach to painting and tries to use church paintings to recreate Islamic narratives. The conquest of Khaybar Castle and the ruins of Sham, Saqi al-Atsha, etc., are prominent examples of these works. Majid Bozorgi considers Rouholamin's works to be the borrowers of baroque art. He believes that the compositions, the movements of human and animal figures, the lighting of the scenes, and the way the elements are treated in his paintings are influenced by Baroque art.
