Jalil Rasouli, calligrapher and painter, was born in Hamedan. Rasuli is one of the artists associated with the calligraphic painting movement. He started calligraphy in his childhood and from his hometown. He left for Tehran in 1956, gained experience in this field between 1961 and 1966, and then set up his own studio. In 1968, he met Seyyed Hasan Mirkhani, known as Serajolketab, and studied calligraphy with him for two years. He finally received his master's degree from Mirkhani in 1989. The first exhibition of Rasouli's works was held in Seyhoun Gallery in 1973. In 1979, the calligraphy festival of the Islamic world in Tehran awarded him the best artist, and he later became a member of the art academy. He has displayed his works in numerous exhibitions, among which we can mention the shows "Siyah Mashq of the Revolution," "Allah Akbar," and "Simorgh." A solo exhibition in Pakistan (1982), a solo exhibition in Italy (1984), and a solo exhibition in Damascus (1985) are among his activities in the international arena.

Among the important works of this artist, we can mention the calligraphy of several valuable works, such as the Persian translation of Nahj al-Balagha, Ayatollah Khomeini's Divan, and Ferdowsi's Shahnameh. His works have been collected and published in the form of three books with the titles “Jan-e-Janan," "Memorandum of Love," and "Green Leaf and Four Seasons." Also, the name of the film "Mohammed" by Majid Majidi was one of this artist's other creations.

Due to his belonging to the field of calligraphy, calligraphy is the dominant element in Rasouli's calligraphic paintings. Using motifs such as flowers and birds is a link that brings his works closer to painting. Rasouli's works contain religious, mystical, and literary themes, and in their presentation, regardless of the accuracy, elegance, and strength of the combination of words, attention should be paid to the high sensitivity used in the selection of paints. In other words, the colors in his calligraphic paintings have their own language; they convey special meanings and concepts.
