Jamshid Bayrami, documentary and war photographer, was born in Naziabad, Tehran. In 1980 and on the war fronts, Bayrami turned to photography. He held the first solo exhibition of his photos in 1994 in Tehran's Barg Gallery. Since then, he has exhibited his photographs in Iran and other countries many times. Georgetown University, Paris Museum of Photography, Strasbourg Cultural Center, and Oxford University are cultural and artistic centers abroad that have hosted Bayrami's works. Since the beginning of the 1990s, he has been working with domestic and foreign press and international photography and news agencies. As a documentary and news photographer, Bayrami has mainly photographed Iranian and Islamic rites and ceremonies. He says, "I definitely take pictures wherever there are people." A book titled Hajj Harmony, photos of Jamshid Bayrami (2007), has been published by him. In 2012, his Hajj travel photos were displayed in an exhibition entitled "Harmony of Hajj" at Khashayar Gallery in London. In addition to religious images, Bayrami's camera has also recorded photos related to women, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, etc.
In a note about Bayrami's social photos, Safar Ali Azimi writes: "An artist like Jamshid Bayrami strongly and persistently engages in critical photography and tries to identify himself as a social photographer in all directions - presenting his works, choosing subjects, compositions, and techniques. Although his works need revision to become a social point of view, selecting the second handed subject of the refugees and turning it into a worthy exhibition shows his knowledge of social photography.
Bayrami has also won many awards in various international events. Among these, we can mention winning a gold medal at the Pakistan International Photo Festival in 1992, being the selected photographer of the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art in 1992, being the best photographer of France Press in May and June 1996, the second winner of the photography competition in France Press, etc.
