Maryam Salour was born in 1954 in Tehran. After finishing high school, she went to England and then France to continue her education and finally graduated from Paris School of Informatics. After that, Salour went to the Savini School of Ceramics and Sculpture in Paris and learned pottery and ceramic techniques, and after returning to Iran, she opened her own studio.

Salour has participated in many group and solo exhibitions. After holding the first solo exhibition in her studio, she held another solo show in Golestan Gallery. Her works have been exhibited in countries such as Switzerland, England, Venezuela, Germany, France and America. Among the most important of these shows, we can mention her solo show in Geneva, Switzerland. She has also been the biennial secretary of Iran's Contemporary Pottery, Ceramics and Waterworks. Her works have appeared in Tehran auction several times.

Maryam Salour's works can be divided into two general categories; The first category is pottery and ceramic works, which are presented in the form of sculptures or dishes, and the second category is her paintings, which are a combination of painting and the use of pottery and ceramics on canvas. These paintings are often abstract, and unlike them, her volumetric works, which include her sculptures, have figurative forms. Maryam Salour's color palette is often bright and consists of colors such as white, gray and blue; Of course, sometimes sharp colors such as red are also present in her works.

Maryam Salour uses different materials in different ways in her paintings; Mirrors have been used in some works on the paintings, and in some works the same ceramic materials have been used on the canvas. In some of the works, pottery or ceramics have been used in such a way that the materials are cracked and convey to the audience a sense of the presence of the desert or an element of nature such as soil.
