Maryam Zandi was born in 1946 in Gorgan. She has graduated from Tehran University in law and political science. Maryam Zandi should be considered as one of the most famous and influential photographers in Iran. Since she was educated in law and political science, perhaps she was following the same thinking that she paid special attention to photographing public gatherings and the presence of people in general with their cultural and national roots. Zandi presents poetic frames of nature in her works, which at the same time emphasizes her knowledge of composition in the art of photography. She is the secretary of the National Association of Photographers. The first solo exhibition of Zandi's works was held in Qandariz Gallery in 1973, and she had numerous exhibitions in Iran and other countries.
She has published fourteen books in the field of photography and among them are the collections "Turkmen and Sahara" 1983, "The Faces of Writers" in the book "Anthology of Novelling" in Iran 1991 published by Midge Washington. She has been publishing calendars and postcards in various fields every year, which have been welcomed by people.
