Mohammad Reza Hamidi was born in Fariman in 1960. He and his two older brothers are among the masters of Coffeehouse painting. This artist was more interested in painting scenes from the Shahnameh, but sometimes, according to what was asked of him, he also created works with other subjects such as religion and Persian tradition and customs. His works have been preserved in the Contemporary Museum, Palestine Museum, Niavaran Museum, Milad Tower, Imam Khomeini Museum and Malek Museum. The works of Mohammad Reza Hamidi, like his two brothers, have been published by Hadi Saif in the books "Sote Delan" and "From Coffeehouse to Niavaran".
In the works of Mohammad Reza Hamidi, we can see the influence of new forms of art. Modernist features can be seen in the form of coloring, design and composition of Hamidi's works. Mohammad Reza Hamidi is more aware of the academic principles of design than the first generation of Coffeehouse painting, and this skill is evident in every work of this artist. He is one of the last survivors of Coffeehouse painting.
