Sasan Moayedi was born in 1959 in Tehran. When he was young, he went to work at Soroush publishing house, where he met Bahman Jalali. At first, he mostly worked in the laboratory, but gradually, by learning the principles of documentary and news photography, he started working as a professional photographer. His youth coincided with the Iran-Iraq war. As a documentary photographer, Moayedi went to the frontlines many times and took pictures of the war. At the same time, he traveled to different parts of Iran and documented a collection of various photos of the living conditions of the residents. Among these works, we can mention the photos of Masuleh or life in Tehran in the middle of the war.
In the years following the war, Moayedi remained interested in the subject. Among other things, he recorded several sets of photos of the wounded and those injured by mines left during the war. A book of his wartime photo collection has been published by the Photographers Association of Revolution and Defense.
A positive human perspective can be seen in his choice of subjects and his treatment of them. Throughout these years, Moayedi has recorded people’s lives in difficult situations, and in all these photos, he has tried to portray the irreparable consequences of war and its impact on human life.
