Seyyed Hossein Mirkhani, contemporary Iranian calligrapher, was born in Tehran in 1907, and from his childhood, along with his brother Hassan Mirkhani, he learned the calligraphy style of Mirza Reza Kalhor from his father. Hossein Mirkhani passed away on June 1, 1982 after suffering from blindness for several years.
Mirkhani, since the inception of Iranian Calligraphers' Association (1950), worked in the Association as a professor and continued his activities there as the president and distinguished professor until 1978.
Among the remaining works of Mirkhani are two Qurans in Nastaliq script, which were written in 1944 and 1949, respectively, which for that he received the first-class art prize from Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the Ministry of Culture and Al-Azhar University in Egypt.
