Shahriar Ahmadi, a contemporary painter and a notable member of the young generation of Iranian artists, was born in Kermanshah in 1979. Initially a self-taught calligraphy artist, Ahmadi later received professional training. His career began in 1997 when he entered the Boys Visual Arts Academy in Kermanshah, and he held his first group exhibition in 2000. He then attended Tehran University of Art, earning his bachelor's and master's degrees in painting in 2000 and 2005, respectively. Ahmadi's first solo exhibition took place at Berg Gallery in 2000. Since then, he has held solo exhibitions in collaboration with Elahe and Golestan galleries. He has had over 15 solo exhibitions in cities such as Tehran, Zurich, Lucerne, Dubai, Istanbul, and Marbella, and has participated in more than 150 group exhibitions across Iran, Switzerland, France, England, the United States, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Venezuela, Lebanon, Kuwait, Germany, China, Italy, and Spain.
Ahmadi is a successful contemporary artist who has gained international recognition. His first overseas solo exhibition was at B21 Gallery in Dubai in 1999, followed by an exhibition at AB Gallery in Lucerne, Switzerland, in 2001. In 2015, he participated in the "Wishes and Dreams" exhibition at the Meridian Cultural Center in Washington, D.C., and attended the Beijing Art Expo. In 1995, Ahmadi won the first prize in painting for Asia and the Pacific, and in 2002, he secured first place in the international youth competition in Tehran.
Ahmadi's works are held in prestigious private and government collections and museums. In 2010, he was invited by the Art Bridge Foundation to Lucerne, Switzerland, and in 2015, he participated in the Venice Biennale. He has also been active as an art teacher in academic settings, serving as the head of the painting department at Jihad University's Art Department in Tehran since 2000 and at the Applied Science University since 2009.
Since 2013, Ahmadi has been a lecturer and head of the painting department at Karaj Scientific and Applied University. He currently lives and works in Jahanshahr, Karaj.
