  • modeled with pronounced saddle and knotted tail, the haunches, and chest painted under the clear glaze with manganese and brown flowers and scrolls, pseudo-script to the saddle, the mane cursorily indicated, the feet dark, the eyes and forehead drilled, 11cm. high x 12cm. diam. Provenance: Dreweatts 11 November 2021, Lot 509 (part lot); Private Collection of Mohammed Makiya (1914-2015) While animal sculpture in metal is well-known from Khorasan, pottery examples are much rarer.
