Iranian artist Sadegh Tabrizi has been exploring calligraphic painting since the late 1950s when he studied at the Faculty of Decorative Arts in Tehran. One of the lead artists of his generation, he and some of his contemporaries have been associated with the Saqqakhaneh movement which took Iranian folk art and literary traditions beyond their original context, producing a style of intermediary art mixing Western and Persian artistic conventions.
For the first time in over twenty years, a collection of his paintings will be brought together and exhibited in London this autumn.
