22 of the Most Expensive Works of Islamic Art in Auctions (Part 2)

24 August 2024
To keep the content concise, this top 22 list has been split into two parts, focusing on auctions from 2010 onwards. This timeframe not only allows for easier access to data but also reflects the dramatic surge in prices in recent years, making older figures less relevant. The "Maharajas & Mughal Magnificence" auction has been purposefully excluded to prevent it from overshadowing the list, as many of its items, though extraordinary, have debatable claims to being classified as "Islamic." This auction, held at Christie’s New York in June 2019, featured exquisite jeweled pieces, gems, and paintings from the Al-Thani collection.
In the following section, you'll find the second half of the list—a Persian translation of "Top 22 Most Expensive Islamic Art Pieces – Part 2," originally published on August 7, 2023, by Islamic Arts Historian Isabelle Imbert, Ph.D., on her blog.
