ArtChart's Interview with the President of the Marcos Grigorian Foundation
If Marcos Grigorian were alive, he would have celebrated his 100th birthday this December. An artist who was not only a painter but also a gallery owner, collector, film actor, and notably, the founder of the first Tehran Biennale. Marcos Grigorian's influence on Iranian art is such that, 18 years after his passing, an exhibition titled "Marcos Grigorian: A Retrospective" has been organized in honor of his centenary. This exhibition, held across three galleries at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art in collaboration with the Marcos Grigorian Foundation.
To mark this occasion, we spoke with Michel Allahverdian, President of the Marcos Grigorian Foundation, about the showcased works—particularly the exhibition's most visited piece—the foundation’s establishment, its objectives, and the authentication of Marco's artworks.
