Hossein Khoshraftar was born in 1981 in Khaf, located in the Razavi Khorasan Province of Iran. He initially earned an associate degree in Visual Arts Education from Teacher Training University in Mashhad. He then pursued further studies, obtaining a Master's degree in Iranian Painting from the University of Art in Tehran.
Khoshraftar held his first solo exhibition in 2008 at Vali Gallery in Tehran. Since then, his works have been displayed in numerous group and solo exhibitions in cities such as Tehran, Beirut, Istanbul, Paris, and Los Angeles.
He studied painting under Master Khalili in Mashhad, Iran and later traveled to Northern Khorasan to paint nature, resulting in a series of small Impressionistic works. Khoshraftar then focused on a more realistic representation of nature and sought to incorporate more calligraphy into his artworks. Subsequently, he placed greater emphasis on color. He explains this transition by stating, “The reason for my shift from works heavily featuring calligraphy to those where color takes precedence was to create diversity in my art. I believed that viewers would not be satisfied with pieces that had a uniform subject, theme, and rhythm, and that I needed to change this approach. Personally, I also needed to find a new way to convey and evoke my feelings.”
