Maryam (Mimi) Amini was born in Isfahan in 1977. She received her diploma in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Isfahan in 1995 and earned her bachelor's degree in painting from Tehran University of Art in 2003. Her first group exhibition was held at Elahe Gallery in Tehran in 1999, followed by her first solo exhibition, "Balloon," at the same gallery in 2005.
Amini's work is deeply intertwined with her lifestyle, serving as a journey of self-improvement and self-healing. Her artistic focus is on self-portraiture, approached abstractly to avoid literal representation. This exploration seeks to harmonize the body, mind, and spirit.
Mimi Amini works across a diverse range of mediums, including painting, sculpture, installation, video, and sound. Her experimentation with various media began with making cuts on canvas, transforming the two-dimensional surface into a three-dimensional space. This approach evolved to include documenting the creation process, with her paintings gradually integrating different spaces and textures from other media.
Throughout her career, Mimi has participated in over 50 solo and group exhibitions in cities such as Tehran, Isfahan, London, Amsterdam, Paris, Turin, Dubai, and Pittsburgh. Her works have also been featured by Dastan and Etemad galleries at prominent art fairs like Teer Art and Asia Now.
