Ruyin Pakbaz begins the story of Iran's modernist art with this Sentence: "Almost 70 years after the artistic modernism movement's begining in the West, its echo reached Iran. The expansion of the Second World War to Iran, the departure of Reza Shah and the establishment of social freedoms created an opportunity for artistic innovation. The change of the political situation and the transformation of the cultural atmosphere that came from the arrival of the Allies (1941) represented the beginning of a new era in Iranian painting. Tehran Academy of Fine Arts was the first place where Iranian artists were introduced to the latest artistic movements, and the students mainly became interested in the two schools of French Impressionism and Russian Realism through the foreign professors of this college, and this was the beginning of the conflict between the old and the new in the history of Iranian art.
