Amir Soghrati, born in 1979 in Rasht, is an Iranian artist and researcher whose work intersects painting, journalism, and critical writing. He studied journalistic graphics at the Center for Media Studies and Research in Tehran and has been active at the interface of art and media since the beginning of his professional career.
Soghrati first worked in journalism and caricature, fields that shaped much of his early written and visual production. He later shifted his focus toward painting, presenting his work in various solo and group exhibitions in Iran and abroad.
In addition to his artistic practice, Soghrati has contributed to institutions related to visual arts through participation in professional associations, involvement in advisory and curatorial councils, and engagement with editorial work in visual-arts publications. He has also founded several independent platforms dedicated to research and documentation within the context of contemporary Iranian art.
Soghrati is the author of several books on Iranian artists, with a focus on examining their careers and situating their work within the broader landscape of contemporary art. His practice reflects the intersection of artistic production, critical inquiry, and research-driven writing.
