Behnoush Foroutan, a gallerist and painter was born in Tehran. She has shown interest in painting since childhood. At the age of 18, she decided to pursue painting more professionally. She studied painting with Tabasinejad and later Abbas Katouzian and started her work by copying the works of famous painters. In 2009, she launched Shokouh Gallery and opened her gallery with an exhibition of Siavash Mazloumipour's works. This gallery gradually gained its position and credibility and focused on conceptual and visual arts. Among them, works with oil paint, watercolor, cartography, and line techniques have had a special place.
Foroutan is considered a relatively infrequent artist, and in her different work periods, she has tried various methods, from representational to abstract painting. Describing this feature of her artistic path, Frouten says: "The idea is very important to me, and I always have to sit down and think about what I want to say. I prefer to avoid repeating myself, and I have tried different painting styles on this account. Almost all styles except calligraphy. In one work period, I only painted old doors, and in another period, I went to galaxies. After that, it was the turn of a series of seas.
Several paintings and designs of this artist have been offered and sold in different periods of the Tehran auction. Her first appearance in the Tehran auction (the second Modern and Contemporary Art in Iran) was in June 2012 with an untitled design of a collection of trees.
