Born in Tehran in 1986, Hoda Kashiha holds a Bachelor of Arts in Painting from the University of Tehran, obtained in 2009. She later pursued her Master’s degree at Boston University in Massachusetts, graduating in 2014.
Kashiha’s journey in the art world began even before completing her academic studies. Her first group exhibition took place in 2003 at Bahman Cultural Center. Eight years later, in 2011, she held her debut solo exhibition titled "Untitled" at Elahe Art Gallery in Tehran.
Over the years, Kashiha has actively showcased her work in various exhibitions and prestigious art fairs both domestically and internationally. Her achievements include earning esteemed awards such as the MacDowell Foundation Fellowship in Peterborough, USA, in 2015.
Kashiha’s artwork reflects her distinctive approach, merging visual elements from pop culture, emojis, comics, and anime with historical masterpieces of art. This fusion draws inspiration from styles like geometric abstraction, František Kupka’s Orphism, Henri Matisse’s lithographs, John Hubley’s animations, and the visual elements of Wassily Kandinsky.
Since 2019, her paintings have evolved, characterized by a unique blend of bitter humor, limited yet vibrant color palettes, and precise, fragmented imagery. Her works feature flat yet depth-infused shapes, irregular boundaries, and meticulous detailing. By replacing traditional brushes with airbrush techniques, Kashiha has created cohesive, delicate visual landscapes that continue to captivate audiences globally.
