Hossein Mojeni was born in Tehran in 1951 and began his artistic journey by studying painting at the Art University of Tehran. One of Mojeni's first exhibitions dates back to 1976 in Tehran Gallery. So far, he has held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in many group shows.
Hossein Mojeni is a prolific painter and despite his lack of interest in teaching, he has been teaching for several years in his studio, Fam Atelier and the Art Workshop of IRI’s Radio and Television. In his approach to artistic work, the artist considers isolation necessary and thinks that interpretation and translation of art is not the duty of the artist. From Mojeni's point of view, the artists are "the sultan, the priest and their own Buddha" and "according to their thinking and interpretation of the universe, they choose a special approach and expression".
Mojeni's paintings are abstract; Surfaces and lines, color placing and color removals, brushstrokes and scratches and written texts on the works, show experimentalism, trial and error, and the artist's interpretation of the familiar elements in the environment.
