Internationally renowned photojournalist Kaveh Golestan is known for his documentation of the 1979 Iranian revolution and subsequent events. His coverage of the aftermath of the nerve gas used in Halabja provided a window on the suffering and atrocities of the war. Golestan remained a committed artist until his death.
This unique work is amongst the few creative productions of Golestan outside his photojournalistic oeuvre. The title, 'Of Beast and the Wild' refers to Rumi's poem, 'Yesterday the master was searching around the town with a lantern to find a human being instead of beast and the wild'. The subject also reflects on the relationship between man and woman.
