Mahmoud Khan was born in Rasht in 1947. He worked in education before an accident following his retirement left him confined to his home. In 2017, after discovering a natural aptitude for painting, he began pursuing his practice seriously and full-time. Within the broader field of Outsider Art, his work falls within the category of pure Outsider Art. His paintings have been exhibited in the Netherlands, Germany, France, and the United States, and are held in the collection of the Fondation Cartier in Paris. Mahmoud Khan lives and works in Rasht.
