Karampour also has a history of being a member of the Board of Trustees of the Iranian Young Cinematographers Association in his biography and professional record.
In addition to his film career, Mehdi Karampour also started photographing professionally in the 2010s. He applied his film experience to photography. His photos borrow from cinema in many ways. Karampour creates theatrical and cinematic frames by staging dreamlike spaces and the mise-en-scene of characters and elements. The artificial lighting of these spaces, the make-up of the characters, the design of clothes, and the stage intensify those mentioned above's cinematic/theatrical qualities.
But on the other hand, these photos are also linked to cinema and dramatic literature. The references to Karampour's images to mythological and biblical narratives give this artist's works an intertextual and narrative quality. For example, in the photo "The Last Temptation," with the arrangement of apples on the ground, clothing, and figurative associations, there are references to the narratives of the creation of man and the expulsion of Adam and Eve from Paradise. The implementation of this ancient narrative in a contemporary apartment space, which recalls David Lynch's frames through the color scheme and lighting, links between different times and places. On January 17, 2029, the mentioned painting appeared in the 12th Tehran auction and was hammered at 4422 dollars. Until July 2022, this was the only appearance of Karampour's works in auctions. His photos were exhibited at London Art Fair Photo in 2020 by Roya Khajavi Projects.
