Mohammad Banisi was born in 1991 in Tehran. His disabilities were revealed before elementary school and he underwent behavioral and speech therapy. Banisi got meningitis at age six, had heart surgery at age seven, and afterwards suffered a blocked lung, but eventually recovered through the efforts of doctors. With expert opinion, he started studying at a school for children with special needs. He continued his studies in such schools until the third grade of middle school. Subsequently Banisi started his artistic career with the support of his family.
His paintings show the strange and interesting world inside him. In addition to painting, Mohammad has worked in other artistic fields such as calligraphy, sculpture, piano and singing. His works have been exhibited internationally with the help and management of Morteza Zahedi. Since 2011, Banisi has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions and art fairs both in Iran and abroad.
Mohammad Banisi has progressed so fast that his works are known inside and outside the country and he is remembered as an amazing talent. Among the international presentations of this young artist’s work, we can mention the solo exhibition at the Asia Society Museum. Banisi is a self-taught artist whose works are mixed with signs of pop art.
