Mohammad Piryaee was born in Qom in 1984. He graduated from Kashan University with a bachelor's degree in handicrafts and a master's degree in painting from Tehran Azad University.
Piryaee has participated in various group exhibitions in countries such as Germany, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates. He has also had several solo exhibitions, the most important of which are "Crash Behind the Fountains", "Red Temple" and "Stairway To Odessa". He had cooperation with Homa, Dastan and Choom art galleries in his artistic career.
Piryaee's works include paintings and sculptures; The main theme of both categories of his works is death and decay. The connection between painting and sculpture is evident in Mohammad Piryaee's sculptures. In his sculptures, with a combination of elements found in architecture and inspired by still life paintings, he reminds us of the atmosphere of decay and death. Regarding the combination of painting and sculpture in his works, Piryaee has mentioned his experience of working with pottery and ceramics in his undergraduate course; He has also pursued drawing, painting and printmaking alongside sculpture due to his personal interest in the medium of drawing. Mohammad Piryaee's first solo exhibition was a set of silk screen prints that was held at Homa Gallery. Piryaee's interest in drawing and hand printing has made his later works to be monoprints.
Regarding the sources of inspiration for his works, Piryaee mentions Patrick Caulfield's still life works and Eisenstein's films. For example, in the "Stairway To Odessa" exhibition, a large number of altar-like blocks were stacked on top of each other and went up to the ceiling. In his work, these stairs have been the stairs of history that people walked on and this cycle is constantly repeated in history.
