Mohammad Piryaee, born in Qom in 1984, holds a bachelor's degree in handicrafts from Kashan University and a master's degree in painting from Tehran Azad University.
Piryaee's artistic career has spanned various countries and galleries, including group exhibitions in Germany, Switzerland, and the United Arab Emirates. He has also held several significant solo exhibitions, such as "Crash Behind the Fountains," "Red Temple," and "Stairway To Odessa," collaborating with esteemed art galleries like Homa, Dastan, and Choom.
His artistic repertoire encompasses both paintings and sculptures, united by a thematic exploration of death and decay. Piryaee's sculptures uniquely blend architectural elements with motifs inspired by still life paintings, evoking atmospheres imbued with themes of mortality. His experience with pottery and ceramics during his undergraduate studies informs the synthesis of painting and sculpture evident in his artworks. Initially focusing on silk screen prints, Piryaee later transitioned to monoprints, driven by his passion for drawing and hand printing.
Influenced by artists like Patrick Caulfield and filmmakers such as Eisenstein, Piryaee's exhibitions often feature profound narratives. For instance, in "Stairway To Odessa," he constructed towering altar-like structures, symbolizing historical staircases traversed by generations—a metaphorical reflection on the cyclical nature of human history. Through his art, Piryaee invites viewers to contemplate themes of time, memory, and the passage of history.
