Neda Tavalaee was born in 1973 in Tehran. She spent her childhood in England, and upon returning to Iran, she became captivated by the Persian language and culture. After studying theoretical physics for two years, she shifted her focus to painting, studying at the Tehran University of Art. Tavalaee was mentored by notable professors like Gholamhossein Nami, Ahmad Vakili, Bobak Etminani, Mohammad Ebrahim Jafari, and Homayoun Salimi.
Throughout her professional career, Tavalaee has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions in Iran and abroad, and she has been invited to various artistic residencies. Since 2021, she has been active in the NFT space, using Web3 technology to connect with artists and collectors and showcase her work.
Her experience of reverse migration during childhood has given her a unique perspective and boldness, evident in her art. Deeply connected with her Persian roots, she is a storyteller passionate about Persian poetry, drawing inspiration from the ancient tradition of Persian poetic book decoration. As a female artist, she emphasizes the importance of documenting contemporary events and shares her personal story about the impact of her surroundings. She illustrates the collective stories of different generations of women. Currently, Neda Tavalaee lives and works outside of Tehran.
