Born in 1967 in Tehran, Reza Abedini is one of the most prominent figures in contemporary Iranian graphic design. He studied graphic design at the Tehran Boys’ School of Visual Arts and holds a BA in painting from the University of Art in Tehran.
Abedini began his professional career in 1989 and established his independent studio in 1993. His distinctive artistic style blends traditional Persian calligraphy and typography with modernist elements—a fusion especially evident in his book covers, logos, and poster designs.
His works have been exhibited in numerous solo shows at leading galleries such as Dastan +2 and Ab-Anbar, as well as at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Isfahan. Internationally, his art has been shown in countries including Qatar, Lebanon, Kuwait, and Germany. He has also participated in major art events, including the Art Dubai and Art Abu Dhabi art fairs.
In 2006, Abedini was awarded the principal prize of the Prince Claus Fund from the Netherlands, recognizing his creative reinterpretation of Iran’s artistic heritage in graphic design. He is a member of the International Council of Graphic Design Associations (ICOGRADA) and the Iranian Graphic Designers Society. His work is held in prestigious collections such as the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the Ogaki Poster Museum in Japan, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
