Reza Azimian, a contemporary painter, was born in Hamedan. In 2003, his works were displayed for the first time in the group exhibition "Youth Art" at the second Tehran Visual Arts Festival. His first solo exhibition was held in Tehran's Sheis Gallery two years after that. After having another solo exhibition at Tehran Art Gallery, the artist's first international appearance was in 2009 as a solo exhibition at the Space, London. A year later, Azimian's works participated in Istanbul Contemporary Art Fair and Art Dubai. He has experience participating in other art fairs, such as Art Moscow and Art International. Also, the works of this artist have been presented in the auctions of Tehran, Milon, and Essex.
Azimian's painting styles can be considered representational. However, he creates a unique visual world by representing the disturbances arising from our reproduction and perception of digital images, Interventions derived from the processes of perception of images in virtual space. Disturbances occurred in loading images and completing pixels and zero and one codes. By focusing on this flaw in transmitting and receiving the image, freezing it at this moment, and aestheticizing it, Azimian follows the logic of noise art. In addition to formal implications, this act also has political and social implications. In the early stages of Azimian's works, the incomplete images, parts of which are blurred and ambiguous, with the presence of elements such as the image loading box, percentage, and other computer signs, had direct implications for the digital processes of the image and were considered as a representation of the image on a screen. But little by little, this trait was internalized in his paintings and revealed itself as a representational system based on disorder. His late paintings are faces whose parts involve disturbance and noise, and there are no more computer signs next to them. The juxtaposition of pieces of different images next to each other with a logic similar to collage makes his visual system multifocal and heterogeneous.
