Tahereh Samadi Tari, a contemporary painter, began her art studies at the Tehran Girls' Academy of Visual Arts. Then she went to the Faculty of Art and Architecture and studied painting. After graduating in 2005, she went to the University of Art and received a master's degree in painting. She exhibited her works in Tehran's Laleh Gallery in the group exhibition "Role Reflection" for the first time.
Samadi Tari's first solo exhibition was in 2007 at Dey Gallery in Tehran, and in the following years, she had two solo exhibitions with the cooperation of this gallery. The first international appearance of this painter took place in "Mall Galleries, Candlestar" in 2008; she displayed her works in the exhibition entitled "Whispers of Secrets, Whispers of Dreams." The following year, this gallery hosted her collection of artworks under "Shahrzad's Masks." During her years of activity, she exhibited her works in countries such as America, Qatar, Switzerland, and England.
The mobility and dynamism of characters and elements are one of the most important characteristics of Samadi Tari's paintings. Humans, elements such as water, light, bicycle, etc., are always drawn moving in different directions. Although the space in her paintings is formed based on the classical rules of perspective, breaking this rule in some parts of the image and creating a sense and contradictory logic takes on an imaginary quality. The suspension of humans in space, water flooding in closed urban areas, etc., are preparations to create this imaginary space.
Pure and bright color choices are other characteristics of her works. The reflection of colors and lights in an environment surrounded by shiny metal and glass surfaces forms her expression of today's urban spaces. Samadi Tari also has a unique way of dealing with figures by abstracting some parts of human bodies, such as hands, feet, and head; she reflects their rapid movements in space. The ghosts are as if they are a reflection of humans and are constantly running through the frames. "Broken umbrella" and "bubble" are also frequent motifs in these paintings.
