Tala Madani was born in Tehran in 1980. At first, he studied political science at Oregon University in America, but her interest in painting led her to receive her bachelor's degree in fine arts from the same university. After that, Tala Madani studied for a master's degree in fine arts at Yale University and graduated two years later.
After completing the residency at the National Academy of Visual Arts in Amsterdam, Tala Madani held her first solo exhibition called "Dust and Mirrors" at Lombard-Fried Projects Gallery. She has participated in various residencies and biennales, the most important of which are Tirana Biennale, Liverpool Biennale and Morocco Biennale. She has also participated in various art fairs such as Frieze London, Art Basel Switzerland and Art Basel Hong Kong. Among the most important awards and honors, we can mention the "James Dick" award from the Smithsonian Museum. Her works have been sold in various auctions such as Sotheby's, Christie's, Bonhams and Phillips.
Tala Madani's works have social political themes and he presents these themes with a humorous expression. These works are often figurative, among which middle-aged or child figures have a greater share. In the collection "Shit Mom", she has depicted babies who are often separated from their mothers and associated with dirt and pollution. These figures are usually placed in strange or awkward situations and depicted with a semi-abstract form and a limited palette.
Apart from painting, Tala Madani also works in the medium of animation. She has held a solo show called "Online Film Screening: Animations of Tala Madani" at the Salomon Guggenheim Museum.
