About Zahra Ghiasi

Zahra Ghiasi, born in Urmia in 1981, holds a BA in Computer Hardware Engineering (2003) and an MA in Executive Management (2005) from Iran University of Science and Technology. She began her professional practice in the visual arts in 2010 and held her first solo exhibition at Shokooh Gallery, Tehran in 2015. Alongside her artistic practice, Ghiasi has worked in curating and has translated and published texts on art and philosophy.

Painting forms the core of Ghiasi’s artistic practice. Her work attends to the gaps and discontinuities within reality, reconstructing the world around her to offer alternative ways of encountering the familiar. Her works have been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Iran and internationally, including in China. She lives and works in Tehran.
