  • Music for the eyes
The first fall auction of modern and contemporary art by Meeting Art has the face of the maiden painted by Giorgio De Chirico between 1920 and 1922(lot 202). She seems to be listening: music is in her gaze. Autumn Symphony. Nostalgia and serene thoughts. Those that the great master's other work(lot 508) also evokes. A landscape that reveals the metaphysical prince's soul in love: the work up for auction is a love song. The painting "sings" it . Music also from lot 472, a pochoir with masked musicians by Gino Severini. "Musical" waves, futurist harmonies, also come from lot 529, a 1945 seascape by Enrico Prampolini. The entire 918 auction sounds: one hears piano in the work by Carla Accardi(lot 100); decidedly jazzy the intriguing Paul Jenkins in lot 87 (a remarkable acrylic on canvas from1963); a masterful electric guitar solo (perhaps that of Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones) is what the eyes hear in the 1967 work by Hans Hartung (lot 77). And then Giorgio Griffa 's variations in lots 68-95-396 (with the 1980s all to "listen to") or Valerio Adami 's cultured Pop atmospheres between the 1960s and the present day(lots 165-215-500). Music comes to your eyes from Alighiero Boetti 's work (a Venice Biennale gem, lot 229) and the poignant De Pisis in lot 208. In short, an auction to put on your turntable...enjoy!
