“Perhaps no one before Klee had “let a line dream”” [Maurice Merleau Ponty]Line is not merely a symbol. Nor is it just a preliminary or an independent semantic unit. The line is existence itself. A poetic expression of awareness of being. The Line is in conflict with the space, and transforms the three dimensions of the outside world into a flat plane, bringing it into the inner space of the mind and there reconstructs it; the line doesn’t detach from the surface yet is seems to both distance itself from it and remain close to it. Kandinsky saw this paradoxical quality as the negation of forces—a straight line is, in fact, the negation of the plane. This paradox serves as a means to express a mystery that cannot be conveyed through language alone; it must take the form of poetry or shape. Since ancient times, Eastern culture has prided itself on calligraphy, using the line to transform the unspoken into written poetry. The connection between the line and the body is immediate, and that is what reveals its existential nature, the connection between the line and narrative is nothing but movement. The line constructs the world and recounts its beings, including women. The narrative of woman emerges through the movement of the line. Every movement of woman in time, is a linear poem, like a string swaying in the wind of time, bending, twisting, hanging, and... The string of woman is her footprint, spread across the land of history, staying afloat behind the veil of culture.
