Mirza Abd-al-Mottalib, known as the Post Office Advisor and Mottalib Khan, was one of the painters of the Qajar period. When he was young, he went to Tehran from Isfahan and trained under the supervision of the masters of that time. First, he used ink and pencils, then he switched to watercolor and oil painting.
In 1858, he traveled to Europe with a group of students, including Ali Akbar Khan Mazin-al-Dawlah. After returning to Iran, he was employed at the post office, and in the years 1878 to 1899, he held various positions there such as key holder and consultant. He mainly painted landscapes, but he also made some of the pictures of Kalileh and Demeneh lithographs. Among his famous paintings, we can mention the painting of “the garden and the porter”, “the sunset by the sea” and “the campers”.
