Babak Roshninejad, a contemporary writer and painter, was born in Hamedan. Roshaninejad is a political science graduate. He exhibited his paintings for the first time in a group exhibition at Niavaran Palace in Tehran. His first solo exhibition was held in 2005 at the Iranian Artists Center in Tehran. In the following years, he exhibited his works in collaboration with Assar and Mah Gallery. In 2009, the artist's first international experience occurred in a solo exhibition at Steps Gallery in London. In 2010, Roshaninejad's works participated in Istanbul Contemporary Art Fair and Art Dubai. Participating in Moscow Artfair and Istanbul International Art is also among other international experiences of this artist. In addition to authoring numerous books (Heftavard Ha, Sleeping on the Street, Ail, Ruyin, on the anachronism of culture, minority art and discourse, memories of the labyrinth mansion, fusion, art and hidden mechanism, etc.), he has also had experiences in directing short films.
Roshaninejad has a representational approach in his paintings. His use of mass strokes that appear in interconnected surfaces gives a special effect to his paintings. The color choices of his works are mostly grey, dull, and muted. The education of this artist in political science has left a clear mark on his creations. In a period of his works, he designed portraits of women and men. In another part of his paintings, they find social and political implications through elements such as war jets, tanks, and police cars. This aspect is more clearly revealed in another collection of the artist's works, which shows clippings from the press and their controversial news headlines. The presence of written elements in these paintings is one of the characteristics of his visual world. Also, using factors such as barcodes and numerical and digital symbols in the paintings gives a contemporary color to his works.
