Behrang Samadzadegan, an artist, educator, and curator, was born in Tehran in 1979. He began painting at an early age and, after studying at an art high school, received a BA in Painting from the Tehran University of Art and an MA in Art Research from Tarbiat Modares University. He has been involved in art education since 2004 and has also pursued curatorial work.
His work explores the possibilities and limits of representing truth, identity, and history. Alongside his artistic practice, his engagement with education and curating has led him to examine emerging artistic developments and question established assumptions within the field.
Painting is central to his work. Drawing on images and narratives from contemporary Iranian history, he combines them with storytelling and the visual language of painting. Rather than seeking to reproduce historical events, he treats history as a personal material, filtered through inherited images, cultural stereotypes, and aesthetic conventions.
