Jazeh Tabatabai, originally known as Ali Tabatabai, was a painter, sculptor, poet, and writer who is best known for his sculptures. Jazeh Tabatabai wrote his first story at the age of 12. In his teen days, he was so busy with writing and painting, that at the age of 19 he held his first painting exhibition. He pursued Directing, painting and sculpture from a young age. and in 1954 he became the first Grade student in the directing and theater at the university and he Staged the play "Sailor's Shirt". In 1960, Tabatabai completed his painting course at the Faculty of Fine Arts in the University of Tehran and meanwhile set up the New Art gallery. Some of Jazeh's paintings and sculptures are kept in important museums and collections such as the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, the Louvre Museum and the Metropolitan Museum.
The main concern of Jazeh Tabatabai was a kind of patriotic narrative in all fields of art, from painting and sculpture to poetry and writing .As an artist, he was fond of Iranian culture and his love was reflected in his works. But figurative metal sculptures are the most important part of his work, amongst all of them. In a period of his career, he created figures that seemed to have souls despite their stern appearance by using industrial machinery waste.
Jazeh Tabatabai said about his different experiences in various fields of art: "One day I am a writer and one day a painter; I wake up and I am a different person who perceives the structure differently, and this flame always torches inside me. Having perception is enough, and the form of expression shall be found.”
