Seyed Mohammad Fadavi, a graphic designer, illustrator, and painter, is known for the works he creates using his innovative technique (improvisation). He is also an active and well-known personality art teacher. His father, Seyyed Hashem Fadavi, migrated to Iraq at the end of the Qajar period, he was one of the Iraqi coffee house painters, and his works are preserved in the famous coffee houses of Najaf. This point provided the basis for Mohammad Fadavi's interest and familiarity with the art of painting, and he started this art at the age of 10 with the encouragement of his father.
After completing his military service, he entered Tehran Fine Arts College to study painting. This period coincided with the 1979 uprisings and the cultural revolution, and this caused his academic period to last 9 years. Then he went to Tarbiat Modares University for graduate studies and received a master's degree in this field. During his studies, he was a student of famous professors such as Ehsai, Momayez, Pakbaz, and Alkhas. During the 8-year war, he did graphic advertising on war, published as posters or in some catalogs. He became a member of the Faculty of Fine Arts in 1990 and devoted himself to teaching this field to young people. In college, he focused on illustration and its connection with graphics. With the launch of the master's degree in graphics, he taught applied illustration techniques in the field of graphics.
At the beginning of the 1990s, along with professors such as Ehsai, Momayez, and Shabahangi, he made preparations for establishing the illustration field at this university. From the 90s, he pursued his childhood interest, painting. During his university days, he participated in classes of painters such as Hannibal Khas and Hamidi. He used his creative achievements and techniques in illustration, such as "improvisation," at service in that period of his paintings. In this way, he directs the improvisational effects of the materials toward thematic expression.
In his later works, Fadavi created a series of paintings using a painting knife, brayer, and printing tools on canvas. In some pieces, printing techniques are mixed with improvisation techniques, and such multi-layer paintings are created. Fadavi has also been active in art management and, in this regard, has collaborated with centers such as Niavaran Cultural Center.
