A date for this work of 1967 has been confirmed by the artist, making this piece the oldest free-standing bronze sculpture by the artist to have appeared at auction to date.

Tanavoli's concept of the Heech as a sculptural form emerged in 1966 which makes this piece a rare early manifestation of the artist's iconic Heech series which has been expressed in various dimensions, colours and mediums.
