Sahar Nahavandi-Nejad, born in 1981, is an Iranian artist working in graphic design, drawing and painting. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from the Islamic Azad University, Tehran, Faculty of Art and Architecture.
Nahavandi-Nejad began her professional career in graphic design in 2001, focusing primarily on textile and apparel design and printing. Alongside this work, she engaged in painting and drawing intermittently, which in recent years has become her main, full-time artistic practice.
In her early paintings and designs, Nahavandi-Nejad drew on her background in the fashion industry, adopting an integrative approach that translated her designs onto garments in innovative and unconventional ways, transforming them into visual artworks. She later gained experience in combining design with theater and performance, and she continues to explore the expansion of her practice in these interdisciplinary areas.
Her exhibition record includes a solo painting exhibition at Atbin Gallery (2005) and participation in group exhibitions at RooBeRoo Mansion (2017), Jaleh Gallery (2019), as well as in off-gallery projects such as Artibition (2023).
