The “Spectrum of Creativity” project is a multi-phase exhibition program that, drawing on color and the spectrum of light, explores a narrative about the complex boundaries—and boundlessness—between visual art, applied art, and design. The project unfolds over several consecutive chapters, with each exhibition dedicated to a single, specific color.
Although the boundary between art and design is often treated as clearly distinguishable in historical, educational, and professional discourse, in practice it is filled with ambiguities and extensive overlaps. Both art and design grow within cultural contexts, draw nourishment from traditions, and respond to social and technological transformations. Yet the linear, classical division between “artistic expression” and “design functionality” is no longer capable of explaining the diversity and complexity of these fields. This project, by focusing on color as an indicator independent of function or style, creates an opportunity to observe and reinterpret these boundaries.
The first chapter of this series, titled “580 Nanometers / Yellow,” is dedicated to the color yellow—a color that, scientifically, lies at the center of the visible light spectrum, and which in many cultures symbolizes brightness, clarity, expression, and the perception of the future.
