Artwork Description

Tapestry technique is a type of warp-and-weft weaving that is done by hand. In the past, it had a practical purpose, such as keeping the interior of homes warm and providing insulation. Nowadays, however, it is mainly used for decorative and aesthetic purposes.
In the 13th and 14th centuries, the use of tapestries in churches to depict stories from the Bible for illiterate congregations was common.
