Provenance: Property from an Important Private Collection The signature and the date are rubbed but likely read ‘painted by the humble (Muhammad) Sabir. Muhammad Sabir was active at the beginning of the 18th century. A similar qalamdan, signed as the current and dated 1131 AH/1718-19 AD, is similarly decorated with Indian characters wearing very lavish dresses and it is now in the Nasser D.
