Dastan is pleased to announce "Interpretation", the solo exhibition of works by Ali Beheshti, at Dastan's Basement. The exhibition will be open for public viewing from May 10, 2019 through May 24. This is the second solo exhibition by the artist at the Basement. Apart from his previous solo exhibition ("Insensible", 2017), his work has been featured in "Agog" curated by Aidin Xankeshipour in Dastan:Outside projectsemen at V-Gallery and a number of group drawing exhibitions.
Ali Beheshti (b. 1988, Qom, Iran) is a graduate of the Faculty of Art and Architecture, Azad University, Tehran. In the recent years, he has focused deeply on new experiments in drawing using a wide variety of materials. By mixing familiar techniques, including multiple thin layers of graphite powder, ink and pencil, with more unconventional approaches, such as print transfers, the artist has created drawings that have the appearance of three- dimensional works. In addition to his paintings and drawings, he creates sculptural pieces that, like the subject matter of the paintings, while being created using accessible material, escape the familiarity of such objects.
In "Interpretation", the artist has reduced the objective visual reality to its fundamental lines and surfaces, and by mixing familiar techniques with less typical material approaches, depicted his interpretation. As H.A. Ardeshir Mobed writes "...Ta'avil (interpretation) is a pass across the last understanding to the first intuition, it talks about the being and existence of whatever that exists."
