In the context of this exhibition, Ahmad Rafi makes the interface between two functional units visible. Atelier and exhibition space as creative spaces through which communication is handled.
“Atelier” is first synonymous with a place of emptiness. A place of deceleration. A contemplative space in which the buzzing of a fly can be heard. The exhibition site, on the other hand, is a space for encounters. Two complementary components that absorb each other and fuse into a unique shape.
Studio window as a metaphor in the exhibition space.
Here, painted imaginary windows of the studio are juxtaposed with the real windows of the Bellevue Hall.
The artistically themed studio windows (portrait formatted panel paintings) enter into a dialogue with the actual windows of the Bellevue Hall. As the carrier of the painting, the canvas is a window to the world, leading us into the world of the studio.
